THINGS TO DO IN CHIOS:
Chios is a really traditional Greek island untouched by mass tourism, where lovers of Greece can experience the real Greek “philoxenia” (hospitality), customs and traditions whilst enjoying its unblemished nature in all its glory!
Chios island has a long celebrated historical past, evident in its castle-villages, historic sites, byzantine temples, museums, all bearing traces of several past noteworthy civilizations, from Ancient Greek to Roman, Byzantine, Genovese and Ottoman,  all worthy of a visit!
Chios island features an exciting landscape and a rich and diverse flora throughout the year, with special highlights being the months of March to May when an explosion of color and scents occurs; the fields and valleys and hillsides come alive with wild cyclamens, tulips and many varieties of wild orchids!
Chios is ideal for walkers/trekkers; there is an extensive network of natural and man-made trails and paths covering most parts of the island, some mountainous, to be explored and enjoyed.
Chios island is a wonder to explore for nature lovers; it has a varied and diverse landscape, mostly mountainous in the north but with gentle hills and valleys in the south. Its flora is similarly diverse, the north a patchwork of dense pine forests and rocky parts, whilst the south part is mostly dedicated to extensive citrus orchards and gnome-like mastic gum trees (being the main exports of the island during medieval times). The island is also home to some natural treasures like caves, grottos and thermal baths.
Chios is a culinary treasure trove for the discerning gourmet: apart from being the world’s sole mastic natural gum produce, it is famous for its fruit orchards and has a long tradition in homemade traditional “spoon desserts” (syrupy fruit preserves and marmalades), its locally produced ouzo and souma varieties are highly acclaimed, its local wines produced in accordance to ancient practices and recipes a newly discovered treasure, whereas its local cuisine is a delight to taste and explore!
